At the start of 2019, the wine estate transactions market remains very active with very French-French transactions. French investors have been present for 3 years now. The major players are professional investors seeking to complete their range and / or ensure their sourcing.
To illustrate this redeployment, the sales statistics of the Vinea Transaction network analyzed over the last 3 years and applied to the Mediterranean area (40% of the French vineyard) highlight the data below.
2 salient features: the foreign investor only represents 11% of transactions and French wine professionals manage 41% of transactions.
The latest transactions from the Vinea Transaction network :
- Côtes du Rhône: The Château de Gourdon, an enotourist wine estate with 50 ha of vines has been taken over by a wine-growing family from the Balkans “Tikves Winery” in the Republic of Macedonia.
- Gigondas: Takeover of a Saint François Xavier estate by an association between the former owner Jean François GRAS and Mathieu PONSON, winemaker in Ventoux and Cru Beaumes rouge (Domaine de Pied Blanc).
- Hobby vineyard in the Rhône Valley: Two transactions have been carried out, Vallon de Provence, a superb guest house in AOP Ventoux and a 3 ha vineyard in the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail in Cru Beaumes Rouge.
- Côtes de Provence, two very different operations:
- A young French couple in full reconversion takes over the Domaine de la Rotonde, a 47 ha wine property located in Villecroze.
- RICHARD MILLE has just acquired Château Reva, a 35 ha wine estate located in the Var at La Motte. The world of wine is part of the same environment as that of watches, watchmaking and luxury jewelry.
- Languedoc: In Aigues-Mortes Vinea Transaction signs the sale of a vineyard of 30 ha of vines in sand wine. The investor, a player in the economic life of Montpellier, plans to create a first-class wine tourism center with the help of the illustrious architect.
- Bordelais: Château Sauman, 25 ha AOC Côtes de Bourg in Villeneuve, has been taken over by ADEF Résidences.
- Hobby Vineyard in Bordelais: Two transactions of small vineyards in 2 prestigious appellations, Graves and Saint Estèphe. Led by French buyers, they complement sales in Bordeaux at the end of the year.
- Vouvray: The Domaine du Clos des Aumônes, 17 ha on an exceptional terroir with its trading structure, has been handed over to a young oenologist.
